At first it may seem too quiet of a place But after 5 mins of the music you’ll start to feel the vibe. As for the service the young waitress Teo was a great server and great energy. The Food was A1 top of the line southern food DONE RIGHT. So good I had to go show the chef some love and said thank u. Over all. Great spot

I am a local to laurelton, ny & this was my first time trying Southern Girls. I must say, from what the reviews stated I was a little skeptical but I’m not an easily influenced individual so I said f it & took my chances. My server was attentive as soon as I walked through the doors, she seated me and immediately brought over a cold cup of water with lemon. (I wish I gotten her name ). She allowed me time to figure out what I wanted to eat, helped me choose to my liking being that it was my first time and took my order efficiently. I ordered the fried catfish with a side of collard greens & yams. I was surprised at the amount of time it took for the food to come out being that it is soul food. The food was prepared wonderfully. The catfish was nicely battered and fried, not salty at all. The collards were on point for sure as well as the yams. My biggest concern was the salt level of the meal but they washed that thought away like nothing. I highly recommend dining in, I’m not sure about ordering out. I always have bad experiences ordering food so I always tell people to either dine in if possible or order takeout indoors. Overall Southern Girls exceeded my expectations and I will be returning. They also deserved a good review because the people were chewing them up lol. Thank You for a wonderful dinner

Loved the Fried Whiting with collards and potato salad. Portions are good. Will be coming back. Our server Tee was awesome working by herself.

I have been looking for good fried catfish in ny for a long time. This place comes very close to the catfish I used to get in Georgia. The atmosphere is minimal, but that's OK with me. The best catfish places in georgia were minimal. It was about the food, nothing else.

I’m not sure why this restaurant doesn’t have a higher rating! Just left and the meal was INCREDIBLE!!! I ordered the catfish and shrimp combo with yams and collard greens and man oh man!!! The fish was so crunchy and fresh. For an appetizer I had the sweet and spicy shrimp which were amazing. The rum punch was a 10 out of 10 and the peach cobbler was insane. I ate it with no ice-cream!!! We met the owner who was so sweet. She came to our table and let us know that her mom works in the kitchen every day and the rich history of this family of women. My waitress Tio was so sweet and informative. I’ve been living in the area for 47 years and can’t believe I’ve never eaten here. The restaurant is really cute and they do Karaoke and after work parties as well. I can’t wait to go back!!!

I went earlier today for a children’s book signing for one of my college associates. I almost went to the event later and planned to cook myself lunch. Then I thought, “even though I love cooking, why would I cook when I’m going to a place called Southern Girls Soul Food???” It made zero sense, so I decided to go earlier and beat the crowd. Anyway, I’m glad I decided to eat their since the food was delicious and very flavorful. I didn’t take points off for it taking to long to be seated and served (my food wasn’t nearly as hot as I like it ny the time it came, but I was too starving by then and had to eat!) for a few reasons: A) There was a lot going on with at least 3 tables set up for the book signing. B) The service was exceptional. At least my server was. She was very apologetic for the wait and thanked me several times for being so patient. C) I ended up leaving with complimentary dessert due to the wait. I definitely recommend this spot highly! I was also so hungry that I forgot to take pictures of the food. Next time!

Our photography company was hired to cover a private party yesterday 2.17.25 at this establishment and it was a great experience. Friendly staff. Beautiful decor and a nice danceflooe which all the guests took part in dancing. I really enjoyed working there and look forward to going back to have a dinner date there.
